Ongoing funded research
(1) Rhyzomic Practices of Identity in Indy Cinemas: A Comparative Analysis. This research focuses on the articulations of cultural and racial identity, represented in ‘indy’ films produced in Canada, Australia, and South Africa; focusing specifically on particular cultures or identity-group formations that have faced various forms of colonialism. (SSHRC: 2007-2010)
(2) Historical Amnesia: The Promised Land. The Promised Land Project is a cultural and historical investigation, focusing on the contribution of 19th-century black pioneers’ in Chatham and Dawn settlements; and the role this multicultural group of blacks played to end slavery and for Civil Rights in Canada, the United States and abroad (SSHRC: 2007-2012)
